Hello! I'm Catherine, or Cathy, and I'm a lifelong lover of animals and creating. My career has followed a winding path, and I've been everything from a graphic designer, to a pastry chef, to a published author, to a college instructor. After experimenting with many creative mediums over my lifetime, I discovered needle felting in 2022 and have never looked back. I love experimenting with different tecniques and always strive to bring my art to the next level, while honouring the beauty of my animal subjects.

ARTWORK: Currently I sell my finished sculptures and my line of beginner kits at art and craft shows in Ottawa and the surrounding area. I'll list my upcoming shows here.

My YouTube channel, Birds of a Felter, features tutorials, tips & tricks videos, and studio vlogs. I currently have over 4000 subscribers and it's growing steadily!

CLASSES: I am actively working on organizing some workshops for 2027, and will list them here and on social media as soon as I have more information!
BEGINNER NEEDLE FELTING KITS: I've designed a line of superior quality beginner needle felting kits, including everything you need to get started in the craft, and sell them under the brand name Birds of a Felter. You can find them in my Etsy shop!
Do you take commissions?
No, currently I don't take commissions, but that might change in the future.
Do you do pet portraits?
No, right now I focus only on wildlife.
Do you teach classes?
Soon, I hope! I'd like to plan some intermediate to advanced classes in the near future. When that happens, I will list them on my email newsletter, here on my website and on my social media, so make sure to leave your email address if you're interested!
Do you ship your artwork?
I have not yet shipped artwork and sell only at local shows, but that also may change in the future.
